Shown here are some sample IDs issued to individuals under the age of twenty-one. These cards contain the same security features and information as their over twenty-one counterparts; however, they are vertical and therefore, the information will be located in different places. Additionally, each card will contain two banners to the right of the main photograph: a RED banner that indicates when the cardholder will turn twenty-one and a YELLOW banner which indicates when the holder will turn eighteen.
First, we have a junior driver’s license as indicated by the green banner and the “JR” in the quick identifier map near the bottom right corner. This license will be issued to anyone ages sixteen through seventeen and is valid for four years.
Next, is a driver’s license as indicated by a blue banner as well as “DL” in the quick identifier map near the bottom right corner. This card is issued to minors between the ages of eighteen through twenty and is also valid for four years.
The last ID shown is an identification card issued to someone under the age of eighteen. As previously discussed, an identification card is identified by a yellow banner as well as “ID” in the quick identifier map near the bottom right corner. This card is also valid for four years.
Just like the cards issued to persons over the age of twenty-one, these minors’ cards will have the same features noted previously. Remember, Pennsylvania driver’s licenses expire the day after the cardholder’s birthday while Pennsylvania photo identification cards expire the last day of the issue month.
